Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching (CoAT)

The Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching (CoAT) program offers graduate students a chance to demonstrate their commitment to teaching excellence through training, evaluation, and recognition. Through critical reflection and application, participants learn the fundamental components of pedagogy, enriching their personal growth and professional development in teaching and learning. The program is designed to provide support and recognition for all graduate students who teach courses at North Carolina State University.

Preparing the Professoriate (PTP)

The Preparing the Professoriate program gives doctoral students and faculty the opportunity to develop a mentoring relationship centered on teaching over the course of an academic year. PTP provides fellows with a hands-on teaching opportunity under a distinguished faculty mentor recognized for his or her teaching skills. Application to the program is open to doctoral students who plan careers as faculty members at colleges and universities.

Mentoring and Teaching Practicum (MATP)

The Mentoring and Teaching Practicum (MATP) program allows advanced graduate students and postdoctoral scholars with teaching experience to engage in mentoring, observation, and teaching in an undergraduate classroom at NC State University or neighboring universities. Through critical reflection and application, participants are able to enrich their personal growth and professional development in teaching and learning, applying the skills they learn in professional development workshops to the classroom.

STEM & Writing Annual Partnership (SWAP)

The STEM & Writing  Annual Partnership brings together NC State scientists, engineers, and writers to focus on a technology we all share: the written word. Participants learn how to teach writing, and then they share what they learned by guest-lecturing in NCSU’s First Year Writing classes. This gives first year writers a chance to engage with practicing writers in science and engineering.
