You might not know it, but there is a fantastic resource here for you on campus – the NC State Counseling Center! We’ve been thrilled to work with them this year, offering workshops on stress management, conflict resolution, healthy mentoring relationships, and self-care. What is the counseling center?
The Counseling Center counsels NC State students experiencing personal, academic, or career concerns. We also offer psychological assessment and psychiatric consultation. Our services are primarily short-term in nature, and we ensure strict confidentiality. We make referrals to other helping professionals and community agencies as appropriate. Many services are free to currently enrolled students of NC State. The NC State Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services.
How many graduate students utilize the counseling center?
Last year, approximately 18% of all graduate student used counseling services.
What services are offered?
Individual, group, and couples counseling; academic and career counseling; semester withdrawals; emergency after-hours crisis response; psychiatric evaluation and medication management; consultation; outreach and preventive services (e.g. suicide prevention training)

What are the most common presenting concerns?
Anxiety, depression, and relational problems.
What special services are offered to graduate students?

What are the hours?
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For after-hours and weekend emergencies, contact 911 or the Emergency Counselor by calling 919-515-3000.
Where is the counseling center located?
Student Health Services, second floor. 2815 Cates Avenue on Central Campus. Parking is available behind the building.
